Ohhh soo long since I posted...

Woops...sorry about the uber-long delay in posting. It's been pretty busy here over the last month (?!?!) haha, and unfortunately this is going to have to be a quick post, since I'm leaving for Southern Sweden/Copenhagen in about an hour. I'm just going to go through a few quick highlights from the past weeks:

1. The C-Party. For one of our friends' birthdays - Chris from Australia - we threw a "C" party (well...he threw it) where everyone had to show up in a costume that started with the letter C. It was a fun party nonetheless, but the highlight definitely was all of the creative costumes that people had. There was a crocodile hunter, a crowned princess, confetti, cocaine, Chingy (the rapper), a christmas tree, camouflage, cleopatra, cotton candy, a columbian drug dealer, cupid, a cat (that was me!)...just to name a few. It was very entertaining and comical, and definitely a party theme that will be brought back to the US. We have 25 more letters to go, so plenty more options for excitement there.

2. Regine John, my International Programs contact person from UMass came to visit, and it was nice to get to show her around Uppsala. It's always nice to have a little reminder from home.

3. I attended my first Swedish Gasque - the International Student Gasque. Gasques are very traditional Swedish dinner, generally with a theme, and where people dress up - usually formal wear, sometimes themed costumes. The dinner has a traditional structure - speakers, entertainment (choir, band, etc.), Schnapps drinking, etc. - and it really makes you feel Swedish. At the gasque, I had a table-gentleman (we sat boy-girl-boy-girl) who was named Tjeerd, and he was from Holland, actually wore Dutch clogs - very amusing. After the dinner, we went to the after party, which included one of my favorite past times - dancing! The gasque was especially nice because I was able to see many of the students that I met at the beginning of my time in Uppsala that I haven't seen in a while. Either way, it was an excuse to get dressed up and have a good time

4. Swedish Politics Exam - I had my first (and final) Swedish Politics Exam this past Tuesday. I'm pretty sure that I passed (crossing fingers), so it will be good to be done with this course...hopefully. If not, there is an extremely liberal "exam re-take" policy here (virtually as many times as you need), so I'm not too worried...other than the fact that I don't want to take it again. Either way, I'll let you know the results when I find out.

Ummm....well, that's all that I can remember as being big events in my life (and by big events, I mean big enough to be written into my calendar....haha). Like I said, I am off to the South of Sweden for the weekend, where we will also visit Copenhagen (Denmark) for a day. Then, on Wednesday, Hannah (Colorado) and I leave for Paris for 4 days, which I am extremely excited about, and then possibly a 2 night cruise to Latvia when we return. The traveling is definitely one of the reasons that I love being here. It's pretty much no big deal to get to almost anywhere in Europe, so hopefully I'll add a few more trips to my itinerary.

I miss all of you back home and promise to post sooner than I have been!!!

:)

Love,
Amanda
