Day Numero Two

So I just got home (it's 12:30am here) after a long day of class (yeah, that is what I'm really here for), bike hunting, friend-making, and happy hour (that was for you Oma). It's been a long second day, yet a good one, so this is going to be a relatively short blog so I can get my butt into bed for day 3. But, I'll still give a quick recap of all that went on in my life today.

Here goes:
First, we all got up and went to our first session of "class," where we learned a bit about the University and sang some songs in Swedish (to practice our vowels)(it's an Intensive Swedish Language Course). I'll let you all know when I learn a few useful words in Swedish other than children's song lyrics. After that, a group of us attempted to find used bikes (everyone rides a bike here) but we were unsuccessful in our journey because of the current high demand for bikes. I have my eye on a pretty sweet hot pink bike that a man said he would fix up, so I'll let you all know how that ends up. To finish off the day (all 6 hours left of it), a bunch of us (15 or so) met up at one of the Nations of Uppsala (there are about 13 Nations, which seem like fraternities, that everyone joins - they have restaurants, and bars, and clubs) where we drank and ate and laughed about Napoleon Dynamite, and Borat, and George Bush. (It was quite a conversation considering we had people from all over - US, Canada, Germany, England, New Zealand, the Netherlands...probably more that I'm missing.) That was pretty much the end of my night, as I am back here in my room getting ready to hit the hay (while all of you are sitting down to eat dinner).

It's been quite the experience thus far. It's great getting to meet so many International students (I feel like I haven't met many Swedes yet, as they are all on vacation still) because we are all trying to figure out the city and the university at the same time. I'm starting to make some pretty good friends, even though I have no way of contacting them yet (still working on my Swedish cell phone), which is always exciting.

I hope that all of you are doing well back home. Shoutout to Auntie Rochelle, whose birthday was yesterday (hope it was a good one). Love you all!

Hey Amanda, I guess this is the way we become connected to your life. It makes sense since we just got our international phone bill to Cameron. The funniest part of your adventure so far is that Oma refers to your blog by its letters. "If you go to Amanda's B.L.O.G., you will find out what she is doing every day. It's like a diary that everyone can read -that's B.L.O.G." I'm so easily amused that I'll be laughing over this one for days. Be well - Peace Out!
